About Us

Unnayan Mancha, established in 1983 by dedicated social workers in Assam, is a non-profit organization committed to uplifting marginalized communities. Through continuous efforts in areas like Welfare of Elder person, Skill development, Education and Women Empoverment. Unnayan Mancha strives to create a world where everyone can live with dignity and security.

Our vision is to create a society where all people have equitable access to essential resources, education, and opportunities, enabling them to realize their full potential. We believe in empowering individuals to become active, contributing members of their communities, fostering a future where everyone can participate in and benefit from shared prosperity and social well-being.

Our mission is to empower and uplift underprivileged individuals, groups, and communities by fostering social development, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. We are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and marginalization through education, skill-building, and community-driven initiatives. By creating opportunities for self-reliance and social integration, we aim to build a more equitable and just society where everyone has the chance to thrive.


Our Objectives

  • To provide trainings on skill development to the poor.
  • To develop and gain knowledge for unskilled people for new productive approaches, especially in rural areas.
  • To initiate and facilitate processes and initiatives where socially and economically marginalized women, irrespective of age, caste, class, or race, are able to participate actively in the development of society.
  • Providing a quality of life to the elderly and needy.
  • To create awareness against natural calamities, emphasizing precautionary measures to be undertaken before and after floods, droughts, earthquakes, fires, etc., and to render assistance to victims as necessary.
  • To remove illiteracy from society.
  • To ensure proper nutrition, healthcare, and education to children, including adult education.
  • To provide training and technical approaches in the agricultural sector.
  • To ensure the availability and accessibility of minimum mental health care for all in the foreseeable future, particularly for the most vulnerable and underprivileged sections of the population.
  • To focus on the emotional, intellectual, social, and physical development of children.
  • To empower women to take responsibility for their personal and social development.
  • To create awareness and educate people about the ill-effects of alcoholism and substance abuse on the individual, the family, the workplace, and society at large.

Niribili Old Age Home

Niribili Old Age Home run by Unnayan Mancha, has achieved remarkable success in providing comprehensive care, including shelter, medical, nutritional, and psychological support to senior citizens. It creates a homely environment, ensures dignified living, and successfully reunites some residents with their families. The home engages the community through various activities and conducts respectful final rites for those without family.

Poritosh Bonik, aged 70, from Dhopdhara, Dist. Goalpara, was successfully reunited with his son.

Arjun Soyel from Sapatgram, was rescued by "Unity we the blood donors" organization, and handed over to Unnayan Mancha. He received treatment in the Psychiatric department and now resides at Niribili Old Age Home
